PROSJEKTER
Unstad delivers projects within design, refurbishment, technical advisory services, engineering, and specialist staffing. Always with a strong focus on quality, reliability, and professional integrity. Here you will find a selection of references that demonstrate how we work in practice, across industries and project types, in close collaboration with our clients.
Temperature monitoring of gearboxes
Unstad has developed a wireless solution for real-time monitoring and logging of gearbox oil temperature, with cloud-based data access supporting optimal operation and condition-based maintenance.
Introduction of new trains
Unstad supported the client in improving the ECM process in line with EU Regulation 2019/779, with a particular focus on strengthening the interface between F3 and F4. In parallel, Unstad supported the introduction of new trainsets by updating SAP MRO and coordinating the functional breakdown structure (FBS) and maintenance data.
Technical support for work vehicles
Unstad supports the client with brake system expertise across three vehicle procurement projects—from feasibility studies and specification development to testing and on-track trials.
Di4 652 – wheelset failure
Unstad optimized wheel maintenance and introduced systematic monitoring of wheel wear on Di4 locomotives. These measures doubled wheel service life from 150,000–180,000 km to 300,000–350,000 km, while reducing downtime and delivering significant cost savings.
Brake test – cable pulling trolley
Unstad conducted dynamic brake testing of a catenary tensioning vehicle in accordance with EN 16834, including measurement of stopping distance, brake cylinder pressure, and temperature. The tests were carried out in both empty and fully loaded conditions and verified braking performance and safety.
Risk analysis of the Type 93 tilting system
Risk analysis of the Type 93 tilting system, including identification of deviations and recommendations for improved operational reliability and maintenance.
Trolley car
Unstad carried out a large-scale fleet inspection following the Traffic Package 2 transition, establishing a technical baseline that reduced risk and provided a solid foundation for efficient fleet management and maintenance planning.
Premium upgrade of Type 73
A holistic upgrade concept for the Premium interior in Type 73, with a focus on quality, functionality, and feasibility.
LM5 engine replacement
Unstad supported the client in upgrading the LM5 diesel engine from Tier 2 to Tier 5 through compatibility analysis and approval support. The upgrade improved environmental performance and extended the vehicle’s operational service life.
Lead Risk Management Specialist
Unstad assumed technical responsibility for risk and safety management at the client and established a robust framework for risk assessments, safety protocols, and IT security improvements. The delivery included training and integration into operations, strengthening the organization’s resilience against security threats.
Noise measurement of Di4
Unstad developed a measurement and analysis system for noise in the locomotive driver’s cab, providing a solid data foundation and concrete recommendations to reduce driver exposure and improve safety and comfort.
Café refurbishment of Type 73
Unstad developed and installed a bistro and refrigeration solution for the Type 73 trains, with a focus on operational reliability, passenger flow, and compliance with railway standards and fire safety requirements.
Snowplow re-engineering
Unstad carried out reverse engineering of a snowplow system for the Di4 and established new production documentation using 3D scanning, 3D models, and manufacturing drawings. The delivery was completed within a short time and cost frame and enabled efficient production and further lifecycle management.
Identification of systematic faults
Unstad analyzed more than 5,300 reported faults on Type 7, WLAB-2, and EL 18 vehicles, identifying systematic patterns and areas for improvement. The delivery provided a fact-based foundation for improved maintenance strategy, data quality, and RAMS activities.
Maintenance of WLAB2 vacuum toilets
Unstad evaluated WLAB2 vacuum toilets and identified incorrect installation and maintenance challenges related to outdated documentation. The delivery included recommendations for updated documentation and preventive maintenance measures, improving operational reliability and passenger comfort.
Inspection of the TP3 fleet
Unstad carried out a large-scale fleet inspection following the Traffic Package 3 takeover and established a technical baseline that reduced risk and provided a foundation for targeted maintenance planning.
Train inspections
Unstad carried out a large-scale fleet inspection following the Traffic Package 2 transition and established a technical baseline that reduced risk and provided a foundation for efficient fleet management and maintenance planning.
