Inspection of the TP3 fleet

Unstad carried out a large-scale fleet inspection following the Traffic Package 3 takeover and established a technical baseline that reduced risk and provided a foundation for targeted maintenance planning.

Following the maintenance takeover under Traffic Package 3, the client assumed responsibility for a mixed fleet consisting of EL 18 locomotives, Type 7 coaches, WLAB sleeping cars, and BFWL multifunction coaches. To ensure a smooth handover and establish a clear baseline of vehicle condition, a full fleet inspection was carried out.

The inspection covered approximately 5,000 checkpoints per vehicle and included mechanical, electrical, and structural components. Unstad developed a systematic methodology for all vehicle types, conducted on-site inspections, and documented findings using digital tools to enable efficient data collection and reporting.

Findings were categorized by criticality and safety impact, and the client received transparent reports with clear recommendations and identification of systemic issues. The project was completed within 2.5 months and provided a solid technical decision basis that reduced transition risk and supported further maintenance planning and long-term fleet management.
