Café refurbishment of Type 73

Unstad developed and installed a bistro and refrigeration solution for the Type 73 trains, with a focus on operational reliability, passenger flow, and compliance with railway standards and fire safety requirements.

Unstad led the development and delivery of a bistro solution with integrated refrigeration units for the Type 73 trains, covering the full scope from design and engineering to production, testing, and installation. The project was delivered within existing technical constraints, with the objective of ensuring efficient passenger flow, high functionality, and robust operation in a demanding rail environment.

The solution was developed with a focus on durability, vibration tolerance, and stable temperature control under varying operating conditions. Unstad performed extensive strength and simulation testing (including dynamic loads) to ensure low fatigue, good passenger comfort, and high operational reliability. Materials and components were selected with emphasis on fire safety and quality, with verified compliance against relevant TSI, EN, and RAMS requirements.

The project also included complete technical documentation, certification support, and validation, structured to enable efficient verification and future maintenance. Installation was coordinated with planned maintenance windows to minimize operational disruption.
