LM5 engine replacement
Unstad supported the client in upgrading the LM5 diesel engine from Tier 2 to Tier 5 through compatibility analysis and approval support. The upgrade improved environmental performance and extended the vehicle’s operational service life.
Unstad supported the client in upgrading the LM5 target car’s diesel engine from Tier 2 to a Tier 5 industrial engine to meet updated emissions requirements and ensure continued operation in line with modern environmental standards. The project aimed to improve environmental performance without reducing the vehicle’s functionality, safety, or operational efficiency.
Unstad carried out a compatibility analysis of the new engine against existing systems, including assessment of weight, power output, cooling capacity, and integration with exhaust and emissions requirements. The analysis ensured the engine replacement could be implemented within the vehicle’s technical constraints and without negative impacts on operations or safety.
In addition, Unstad was responsible for ensuring the upgrade could be approved following the engine replacement. This included technical assessments and documentation to demonstrate compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, ensuring the vehicle remained operationally certified. The delivery improved environmental performance and extended the service life of the LM5 vehicle, demonstrating Unstad’s expertise in complex upgrade projects with a strong focus on engineering, regulations, and practical feasibility.
