Lead Risk Management Specialist

Unstad assumed technical responsibility for risk and safety management at the client and established a robust framework for risk assessments, safety protocols, and IT security improvements. The delivery included training and integration into operations, strengthening the organization’s resilience against security threats.

Unstad assumed technical responsibility for risk and safety management at the client as an integrated resource within the organization, ensuring continuity after the client’s lead risk management resource left. A senior consultant from Unstad worked closely with the client’s safety and quality teams, as well as the CISO, to ensure compliance with railway legislation and relevant safety and security standards.

The delivery included leading and facilitating risk assessments across operations, with a focus on identifying, assessing, and mitigating safety and security risks—including threats related to sabotage and attacks on critical rolling stock systems. Unstad also further developed the client’s risk management framework to support a holistic risk picture, with clear criteria and practical guidance for both day-to-day operations and future projects.

In addition, Unstad reviewed software development processes against IT security requirements for rolling stock and proposed concrete improvements to strengthen security and compliance. To ensure lasting impact, training and close follow-up of internal resources were carried out, enabling the client to continue risk assessments and safety management independently.
