Unstad AS would like to inform you that new cableway regulations came into effect on July 1, 2025. The regulations impose stricter requirements for documentation of the safety level for cableway installations. According to §2-2, it is now mandatory to use an independent third party or the cableway manufacturer to document that the installation meets the requirements for an acceptable safety level.
It is important to note that the requirement for third-party assessment applies not only during regular operation, but also in several other situations, including:
When relocating a cableway, the Norwegian Railway Authority may require documentation from an independent third party or the manufacturer.
When making changes to cableways used for passenger transport, the authority may require that an independent third party or the manufacturer documents that the change maintains or improves the safety level.
For chairlifts, double-ropeways, and funiculars, special inspections may be required to be carried out by an independent inspection body.
Unstad AS is approved as both an independent third party and a manufacturer of cableways in Norway, and we can therefore assist with this documentation in all relevant situations. By using an independent third party, you benefit from:
Objective and verifiable safety assessment
Reduced risk of errors and deficiencies in documentation
Increased trust from authorities, users, and insurance companies
