Unstad is proud to have been chosen as the project manager for the restoration of Høka tram no. 215 – a classic motor car with great historical significance. Aleksander Nordhagen Vik from Unstad has been given the honorable responsibility as project manager for this extensive work. The carriage, of type MBO 50, was built in 1953 at Hønefoss Karosserifabrikk and was part of the first series of 30 Høka trams that shaped the streets of Oslo from the early 1950s all the way to the mid-1990s.

The goal is to restore it to running condition so that it can once again roll through the streets of Oslo.

Collaboration and Roles

The entire undercarriage of the tram is being restored. This includes, among other things, steps, battery box, floor, and brakes, which are being thoroughly restored to ensure functionality and historical accuracy.

The client and owner of the tram is the Oslo Tramway Museum, which is part of the Local History Association.

Mantena has entered into an agreement with the Local Traffic History Association for the restoration of Høka 215. To carry this out, Mantena Anleggsmaskiner in Stange has assembled a group of its own and hired resources. Mantena is our dedicated partner in this task.

Open Museum during Culture Night at Majorstuen

Would you like to see a similar Høka carriage with your own eyes? At the Tramway Museum in Vognhall 5 (Majorstuen), Høka no. 234 will be on display during Culture Night on Friday, September 12th. A great opportunity to experience this type of carriage in real life!

A Living Part of Oslo’s History

“The project combines technical precision with historical preservation, not unlike what is required for the restoration of classic cars, but on a larger scale. That in itself is very rewarding and exciting. For me, there is also a personal dimension: Høka 215 is the same type of tram depicted in Oslo’s streets in Krüger & Krogh, my favorite comic series! It is an honor to help bring new life to such an important part of the capital’s history. I look forward to the day when Høka 215 once again rolls through Oslo’s streets – a living time journey back to the cityscape of the 1950s,” says Project Manager Aleksander.
